Steve Strongman with Special Guest Jimmy Bowskill
Coach and Lantern (upstairs), 384 Wilson Street East, Ancaster, ON
At 20 years of age Jimmy Bowskill has already been recognized nationally as a multi award winning artist proving that a young man can indeed play the blues. Bowskill has been blowing audiences away worldwide; from the Ukraine to Japan he’s left them begging for more and doing his country proud! This young Canadian is a triple threat. He’s a guitarist of power and finesse, a soulful and supple-singer, and a compelling songwriter. “My philosophy is that blues is based around the soul and how you are feeling at the time and if you believe in what you’re doing, and put in as much soul as you can, then it will come across.”
Over the last few years, Jimmy has had the privilege of opening and sharing the stage with such legends as Dickey Betts, ZZ Top, Jeff Healey, Garth Hudson, Deep Purple, Paul Rodgers and Jeff Beck.
Bowskill’s second album, Soap Bars and Dog Ears, was nominated for a Juno Award when he was fourteen years of age.
In 2005 he was presented with a Maple Blues Award as “Best New Artist of the Year”.
In November 2015, Bowskill joined the Canadian rock band The Sheepdogs playing lead, rhythm and pedal steel guitar.
In 2016, Blue Rodeo released their album 1000 Arms, which includes Bowskill playing on two tracks.
