TICKET AVAILABILITY: Tickets for the concert are $30 cash only please. Available Dr Disc, Stardust Records, Looney Tunes Records (Burlington), and Picks and Sticks.

Presented by The Friends of Richard Newell the annual concert pays tribute to Hamilton’s foremost exponent of the blues, the late Richard Newell a.k.a. King Biscuit Boy. For this year’s show we have two dynamic blues guitarists and their electrifying bands – Steve Strongman and Brant Parker with special guest Carlos Del Junco. When: Saturday May 11, 2024 – 8 PM to Midnight Where: Leander Boat Club (50 Leander Drive, Hamilton) This year’s headliner Steve Strongman is a hometown favourite. Nominated three times for a Juno award and a winner one time, Steve is also a multiple winner of Maple Blues Awards and Hamilton Music Awards. In 2019 he won “Best Guitarist – Solo or Duo” at the International Memphis Blues Challenge. Steve hasn’t appeared at Blues With A Feeling since before the pandemic and we can’t wait to welcome him and his band back to our show. He is an inimitable guitarist and a soulful singer who never fails to please. Also appearing at this year’s concert, from the Niagara region, is another outstanding guitarist Brant Parker. Brant will be joined by his all-star band which includes some of southern Ontario’s best known and most talented players. This is the same band that are familiar faces at the Leander where they anchored the Bay City Blues Jams for a number of years. Brant and his band will be joined by a very special guest at our concert. We always feel that a tribute to King Biscuit Boy must include at least one outstanding harmonica/harp player and this year we have one of the best in the world – Carlos Del Junco. Carlos, a native of Havana, is also a multiple Juno nominee. He has been nominated for “Harmonica Player of the Year” at the Maple Blues Awards an amazing 16 times and won 8 times. He also has been recognized for his instrumental prowess at a number of international competitions. In addition to those acts Lester Smith, Larry Feudo and Paul Panchezak of the band Trickbag will offer a short set of acoustic blues from the “Ronnie Copple Memorial Chair” in the foyer of the Leander Boat Club. Acting as musical greeters of sorts and invoking the busking spirit of Chicago’s Maxwell Street they will start the festivities at 7:30. Proceeds from this year’s concert will be donated to the Hamilton Musicians’ Guild’s Bob Pedler Fund, a benevolent fund which provides financial assistance to musicians who are unable to perform due to health issues. Tickets will be available starting Sat. April 6th. Blues With A Feeling is presented by the Friends of Richard Newell in association with The Hammer Monthly, Clifford Brewery, 4680 Q, The Hamilton Musicians’ Guild, Alves Meats and Jaden Printing Services.
