Matthew is a gifted bassist on electric, fretless, and upright bass. Throughout his career, he has shared the stage with many amazing musicians, and toured extensively throughout North America. Matthew has made a career of being an expert freelance bassist, his professionalism and attention to detail has made him a first call Canadian musician.

Strongman, a Canadian guitar hero constantly working on his craft, sought out Jake Workman online after hearing his incredible guitar playing, when Workman was lead guitarist for Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder. The relationship flourished, and mutual respect lead to conversations about possibly doing some shows together.

Strongman had toured in the early 90's with Shane Gusé, as part of the North American Country show band “The Gusé family.” The two have remained great friends and worked together on various projects ever since.

It was a natural step to include multi-instrumentalist and Canadian phenom fiddler Shane Guse into Strongman's yet to be named project.

“I knew I wanted to do some playing with Jake, and he was excited about it also, so I had the idea of blending some of my strengths musically, with his musical strengths to see what would happen. When I added Shane, I knew we were really on to something.” says Strongman. “The next step was adding Matthew Lima to round out the quartet, who is a monster player and awesome guy…He works with Shane often so he was the perfect bassist for this project. With the constant touring we are all doing, I was lucky to get this group together.”
